Winter came and went. Most of us put on a couple of pounds and probably slacked on our personal development routines. And that’s OK. But now as temperatures rise and the jasmine fills the air with happy smells, it’s time to get into spring growth mode. Growth can take many forms and is an important part of our personal and professional development.
Physical growth is something we can easily track and probably the easiest for us to attain. It includes things like weight gain or loss depending on your goals, run time, heart rate, and even the food you consume. Get back to the gym (or some sort of workout class) and start tracking your physical growth. Our tip: try a spin class at Romney Ride!
Mental growth is probably the one we ignore the most, but is the most important as it affects everything else. This is “self love” where you carve out time to take care of yourself. Make a “me” date and go do something you love by yourself. It could be wandering around an antique store or seeing a sappy movie. Professionally, there are so many great programs out there for development including Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and Entrepreneurs Organization. Our tip: download the Calm app and try a meditation or sleep story.
Emotional growth is an easy one, but just takes planning. It’s the personal connections with friends and family that keep us in check and allow us to blossom. How many times do we say, “Let’s have dinner.” but it never happens? Start putting a date on the calendar each time you find yourself saying that. Also, simple expressions of thanks can go a long way, be sure to let the people in your life know how much they mean to you. Our tip: organize a Paint and Jrink party for your friends.
You’re either growing or you’re becoming stuck. Spring is the best time to pull yourself out of ruts and start fresh. Now, open your calendar and let’s do this.
